Van Ride (To the tune of Sleigh Ride)

We’re going to see my grampie, our legs are crampy, it’s true.
It’s really lovely weather for a van ride together with you.
Outside the wind is blowing and cars are passing us too,
It’s really lovely weather for a van ride together with you.

Put your foot to the floor, come on, let’s go! We’re going to slow.
Twelve Andy Griffith shows to go.
‘Can I sit in the front?’ “No you can’t” ‘Boo Hoo! Then what can I do?’
“Sit down, sit down, turn around, and don’t you make a sound!”

My hair’s got lots of static like the songs on the radio do.
It’s really lovely weather for a van ride together with you.
We’re going to see my grammie, my poor, sore fanny is blue.
At least it’s lovely weather for a van ride together with you.

Should we go through Scranton, Bridgeport or through Bethlehem?
Don’t you know it daddy picked the perfect traffic jam.
We’ll be playing cassette tapes one by one, without a single stop.
And mother dear with her sore buns needs another…stop…stop…stop!

There’s a gnawing in my appetite that grow and grows
Till they pass around the Wheat Thins and the Oreos.
It’s a wonderful childhood memory, an eleven hour drive.
I‘m gonna be glad when we pull into grammie and grampie’s drive.

My stomach’s got a hunch that it’s time for lunch, it’s true,
I’m glad it’s lovely weather for a van ride together with you.
Another overpass. Oops! We’re out of gas, It’s true.
At least it’s lovely weather for a van ride together with you.
